Job description
Technomar Shipping Inc. is seeking a skilled Drydock Superintendent Engineer to join our Drydocks & Projects department. In this role, you will plan, supervise, and deliver vessel drydockings and major repair projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with class and flag state requirements.
Key responsibilities
· Plan, specify, and supervise vessel drydockings, repairs, and conversions from pre-docking specification through to redelivery.
· Oversee shipyard performance, ensuring repair quality, safety standards, and adherence to agreed schedules and budgets.
· Prepare and manage drydock repair specifications, tender documents, and cost estimates; evaluate yard quotations and negotiate final pricing.
· Attend vessels during drydocking to supervise steel renewal, hull coating, machinery overhaul, and other critical repair items.
· Liaise with classification societies, flag state authorities, and port state control to ensure compliance throughout the repair period.
· Coordinate with the Technical department, vessel crew, and shore-based teams on repair planning, spare parts procurement, and technical support.
· Monitor and control drydock budgets, tracking costs against estimates and reporting variances.
· Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures throughout the drydocking process, safeguarding crew and yard personnel.
· Prepare detailed drydock completion reports, including technical records, class certificates, and budget reconciliation.
Job requirements
· Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related field.
· Demonstrated 5 years’ expertise in drydocking, hull and machinery repairs, steel renewal, and coating specifications, preferably for Container Vessels.
· Solid understanding of classification society rules, flag state regulations, and international maritime conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL).
· Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure within demanding project timelines.
· Ability to collaborate effectively with shipyards, class surveyors, and cross-functional shore-based teams.
· Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency in relevant software and technical tools.
· Proficiency in written and spoken English.
