Spares Operator

Technomar Shipping Inc. is looking for a Spares Operator to join our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the procurement, forwarding, and delivery of spare parts for the company’s fleet, ensuring all requirements are handled efficiently, accurately, and cost-effectively.

Main Responsibilities

• Organizes and coordinates the purchase of spare parts.

• Reviews and evaluates vendor quotations for quality, price, and delivery time and informs the Senior Spare Operator.

• Confirms the completeness of spare parts requisitions received from vessels.

• Coordinates with the Technical Department and data entry team in cases of discrepancies between requested spare parts and the company database.

• Collects quotations from forwarders for delivery to the vessel at the most convenient port and ensures safe, economical, and timely delivery on board the ships.

• Supervises freight forwarding services.

• Obtains forwarding details and informs suppliers, Masters, and Agents about the delivery point and means. For spare parts/equipment, completes export procedures, customs in/out formalities, tax arrangements, freight rate evaluation/fixing, and related payments.

• Follows up on deliveries until they are placed onboard, cross-checks delivery receipts and invoices, verifies delivery completion, and files the vessels' delivery notes.

• Reviews and assesses spares and forwarding invoices, ensuring they include all agreed discounts and purchase terms before approval.

• Updates and maintains the list of approved suppliers and monitors comments from other departments that may influence supplier approval.

• Maintains and updates records of purchase requests, relevant documents, and supplier evaluations/certifications.

• Performs cost and consumption checks.

• Evaluates spare/part suppliers and records any factors contributing to failures.

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in a Spares role.

• Familiarity with Benefit ERP and Procureship will be considered an asset.

• Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.

• Attention to detail and a strong sense of accountability.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Good command of the English language.
